Zoids is a toy series developed by Takara Tomy.
The name "ZOIDS" was coined from the English words "ZOIC" (for animals) and "ANDROIDS" (for androids), but the final "S" is not pronounced in Japanese. Assembled toys featuring animals and dinosaurs, with gimmicks such as walking and weapon operation using springs and motors, have been popular as masterpieces of original toys for boys since the 1980s . Today, it is called "synonymous with animal-type mecha," and as of February 2018, the total number of kits shipped is over 44 million, with cumulative sales of over 83 billion yen.
